About The Position

Discovery is seeking a full-time Classroom Assistant to support a Primary community for children ages 3–6. Under the direction of the Lead Guide, the assistant helps children fulfill their developmental potential in an authentically prepared, inspiring Montessori environment. Montessori experience is not required; training and resources are provided. The position is Monday through Friday, with start times ranging from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and end times ranging from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Discovery is a Montessori community for children ages 12 weeks to 6 years, formed through a collaboration between Xplor Education and a Southern California aerospace company. The school values collaboration, creativity, and attention to detail, and aims to guide children to become capable and independent learners.

Requirements

• At least 12 college-level early childhood education credits.
• Enjoy working with young children.
• Be warm, joyful, and professional.
• Hold valid CPR and first aid certification, or be willing to obtain certification before beginning employment.
• Have negative TB test results from within the last 12 months, or be willing to take a TB test and obtain negative results before the first day of employment.
• Be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in high-quality preschools, particularly authentic Montessori preschools.
• Speak other languages.
• Have interests to share with children, such as music, art, science, gardening, or movement.
• Appreciation for and openness to learning more about the Montessori method.
