About The Position
Our Merchandising team is seeking a talented, versatile Assistant Merchant to join our team. This position will maintain data integrity, support product strategies, and stay informed about market trends as well as close collaboration with cross-functional teams like Marketing, Sales, and Product Development.
Requirements
- 1+ year of experience in retail planning, buying, merchandising or related role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising or related field
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the accuracy and reliability of merchandising data and reporting tools
- Regularly audit key metrics and values to ensure consistency and alignment with business objectives
- Generate actionable insights from data analysis to support decision-making processes
- Assist Senior Merchants/Merchants in developing assortment line plans and executing product strategies
- Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to optimize product assortment and inventory management
- Monitor sales performance and adjust merchandising strategies as needed to achieve targets
- Conduct continuous market research and competitive shopping to identify emerging trends and opportunities
- Utilize trend sources and consumer insights to recommend new product lines or improvements to existing offerings
- Inform the team about market dynamics and competitive landscape
- Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and Planning teams to align merchandising efforts with overall business goals
- Facilitate communication and information sharing across departments to ensure seamless execution of merchandising initiatives
- Support pricing strategies and gross margin goals by conducting thorough market analysis and competitive research to optimize product pricing and profitability
