About The Position

Four Hands, a leading designer and wholesaler of furniture and décor, is seeking a talented and versatile Assistant Merchant to join their Merchandising team. This role is crucial for maintaining data integrity, supporting product strategies, and staying informed about market trends. The Assistant Merchant will work closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, and Product Development to ensure alignment and optimize product assortment and inventory management. The position involves generating insights from data analysis, assisting in developing assortment line plans, monitoring sales performance, conducting market research, and supporting pricing strategies to achieve gross margin goals. The ideal candidate will uphold Four Hands' Core Values and contribute positively to the team environment.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in retail planning, buying, merchandising or related role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising or related field
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the accuracy and reliability of merchandising data and reporting tools
  • Regularly audit key metrics and values to ensure consistency and alignment with business objectives
  • Generate actionable insights from data analysis to support decision-making processes
  • Assist Senior Merchants/Merchants in developing assortment line plans and executing product strategies
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to optimize product assortment and inventory management
  • Monitor sales performance and adjust merchandising strategies as needed to achieve targets
  • Conduct continuous market research and competitive shopping to identify emerging trends and opportunities
  • Utilize trend sources and consumer insights to recommend new product lines or improvements to existing offerings
  • Inform the team about market dynamics and competitive landscape
  • Work closely with Marketing, Sales, Product Development, and Planning teams to align merchandising efforts with overall business goals
  • Facilitate communication and information sharing across departments to ensure seamless execution of merchandising initiatives
  • Support pricing strategies and gross margin goals by conducting thorough market analysis and competitive research to optimize product pricing and profitability
  • Other duties as assigned, in accordance with training and qualifications
