About The Position

The Assistant Medical Director plays a key role in supporting the Medical Director in overseeing clinical quality, provider development, and patient care standards. This position is open to qualified Physician Assistants (PA), Nurse Practitioners (NP), or Physicians with strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Licensed PA, NP, or Physician in good standing within all states of licensure.
  • Current or able to acquire prior to start: Oregon and Washington licensure
  • Current or able to acquire prior to start: DEA registration
  • Current or able to acquire prior to start: DOT Certification Registration
  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience coaching, mentoring, or teaching clinicians.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Reliable Transportation

Responsibilities

  • Supporting clinic operations
  • Training and mentoring new providers
  • Collaborating with the provider scheduler to determine optimal shift structure (e.g., 3×7 or 2×11-hour shifts)
  • Backfill other provider shifts as necessary if all other coverage efforts have failed
  • Collaborate with the provider scheduler to ensure provider labor is aligned with clinic operations
  • Meet regularly with clinic managers to ensure alignment with organizational goals, vision, and clinical quality standards.
  • Work with the provider coordinator on new provider onboarding, with emphasis on clinical training, and best practices updates.
  • Assist the CMO in: Urgent care (UC), workers’ compensation (WC), and procedural training
  • Assist the CMO in: Individual 1:1 meetings and performance coaching
  • Assist the CMO in: Case review
  • Participate as a member of the extended executive leadership team, contributing to: Organizational initiatives
  • Participate as a member of the extended executive leadership team, contributing to: Operational improvements
  • Participate as a member of the extended executive leadership team, contributing to: Strategic planning
  • Act as a clinical coach for providers experiencing burnout or efficiency challenges.
  • When available, serve as a phone consultant or monitor provider chat (no formal POD shift requirement).
