About The Position

The Assistant Meat Manager supports daily Meat Department operations in a fast-paced retail environment, helping meet service, quality, and financial expectations. The role contributes to sales and profitability by maintaining freshness, food safety, and merchandising standards and supporting operational readiness and customer satisfaction.

The position involves planning and coordinating production, maintaining inventory and displays, ensuring regulatory and food-safety compliance, and scheduling, training, coaching, and overseeing associates. It also includes maintaining department work areas and equipment and completing required documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily Meat Department operations to meet service, quality, and financial expectations.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment and respond to customer inquiries and special orders.
• Plan and coordinate daily production activities, including preparation, packaging, stocking, and merchandising.
• Ensure displays are stocked, rotated, labeled, and maintained to company standards.
• Implement promotional and seasonal programs as scheduled.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, temperature, and regulatory requirements.
• Review production results and adjust activities to support yield and profitability goals.
• Manage ordering, inventory levels, shrink, reclamation, and departmental expenses.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas, including preparation rooms, coolers, freezers, display cases, and equipment.
• Schedule, train, coach, and oversee associates to ensure coverage and performance expectations.
• Complete and maintain required documentation, including logs, reports, and audits.
