About The Position

The Assistant Meat Department Manager helps manage daily Meat Department operations at Albertsons Companies, contributing to sales and profitability while ensuring consistent freshness, food safety, and merchandising standards. This is a fast-paced retail role where planning, follow-through, and leadership influence department performance, product quality, operational readiness, and customer satisfaction.

The role includes coordinating daily production and merchandising, maintaining inventory and department expenses, and scheduling, training, coaching, and overseeing associates. The position requires flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as compliance with company safety, food safety, grooming, and conduct standards. Travel is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing daily Meat Department operations to meet service, quality, and financial expectations.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused environment and respond to customer inquiries and special orders.
• Plan and coordinate daily production activities, including preparation, packaging, stocking, and merchandising.
• Ensure displays are stocked, rotated, labeled, and maintained to company standards.
• Implement promotional and seasonal programs as scheduled.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, temperature, and regulatory requirements.
• Review production results and adjust activities to support yield and profitability goals.
• Manage ordering, inventory levels, shrink, reclamation, and departmental expenses.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas, including preparation rooms, coolers, freezers, display cases, and equipment.
• Schedule, train, coach, and oversee associates to ensure coverage and performance expectations.
• Complete and maintain required documentation, including logs, reports, and audits.
