About The Position
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager with day-to-day convenience store operations and may act as manager when the Store Manager is away. This role involves customer service, register operation, team leadership, hiring and training, inventory and merchandising, scheduling, cash handling, deposits, and maintaining a clean and welcoming store. Candidates need open availability, including weekends and holidays, and should expect to work primarily second or third shifts. The role requires a valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance to complete bank deposits. Candidates must be at least 21, proficient in English, comfortable with basic math, willing to learn, and have or be able to obtain Food Safety Certification. Employment offers are contingent on a background check; candidates may also be required to undergo drug screening.
Requirements
- Open availability to work weekends, holidays, and likely second or third shifts.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a personal vehicle, and proof of insurance to complete bank deposits.
- Comfort with cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, and maintaining outside areas such as fuel pumps.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Proficiency in English and basic math skills.
- Willingness to learn.
- Must have or be able to obtain Food Safety Certification.
- Successful completion of a background check is required for an employment offer; drug screening may also be required.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of day-to-day operations.
- Operate the register and assist customers promptly, accurately, and with a positive attitude.
- Coach and motivate team members to upsell products and promotions.
- Help hire, train, and lead a team focused on customer service and store success.
- Act as manager when the Store Manager is away.
- Handle inventory, ordering, and merchandising to keep the store stocked.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including restrooms, trash areas, and fuel pumps.
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure full coverage.
- Handle daily cash, make deposits, and oversee store financials.
- Provide feedback and leadership to motivate the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
