About The Position

This position is for a 2nd shift Assistant Manager in a group home setting. The role involves supervising Direct Care Staff, ensuring the safety and security of the home and residents, and facilitating the implementation of resident treatment plans and programming. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for medication coordination, documentation, managing petty cash, vehicle maintenance, and providing counseling to staff and residents. This role may also encompass duties of a Medications Coordinator, Weekend Manager, Shift Supervisor, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Lead Staff. The position reports to the Program Manager and District Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete required reports and follow written and oral instructions related to the care and supervision of residents.
  • A high school diploma or general education diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be suitable to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident.
  • Must be capable of handling emergency situations.
  • Competent in reporting requirements.
  • Competent in First Aid.
  • Competent in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Competent in personal care, supervision, and protection.
  • Competent in resident rights.
  • Competent in safety and fire prevention.
  • Competent in prevention and containment of communicable diseases.
  • Must be in such physical and mental health so as not to negatively affect either the health of the resident, or the quality of his/her care.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years Group Home Experience Preferred
  • A year or more experience in the group home setting.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of all in-house programming and safety procedures.
  • Monitor and assist residents in all areas of socialization.
  • Facilitate the implementation of resident’s individual treatment plan.
  • Assure the proper and thorough training of subordinate employees.
  • Supervise, assist, and monitor the responsibilities and job performance of all Direct Care Staff.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the home and residents when the Home Manager is not available.
  • Implement daily program goals, assisting residents in all areas necessary for their treatment plans.
  • Supervise evening and midnight hours to ensure an organized care environment.
  • Assist residents in establishing and maintaining reasonable sleeping habits and preparation for the next day’s activities.
  • Assure compliance with evening appointments and distribution of medications as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Assure proper documentation of any medication changes.
  • Perform Medications Coordination duties.
  • Assure proper documentation of any unusual incidents, outings, medications, and all in-home data.
  • Assure timely completion of all monthly data collection.
  • Assure the availability of petty cash for goals and general needs of residents and home.
  • Monitor vehicle use and maintenance, including routine maintenance and ensuring adequate fuel.
  • Confer with Program Manager and Midnight staff at shift change regarding resident status.
  • Assist staff and residents in developing positive social skills using community resources.
  • Provide formal counseling to staff and informal counseling to residents.
  • Participate in the development of new programs and activities.
  • Supervise, provide, and coordinate a continuum of care for residents with other staff.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
  • Maintain a positive, professional relationship with residents, co-workers, supervisor, guardians, and home consultants.
  • Learn and adhere to all home policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with personal care needs, including heavy lifting for transferring or positioning residents with ambulation disabilities.
  • Report changes in behavioral, mental, and physical health to immediate supervisor.
  • Assist new residents in establishing compliance with program guidelines and house rules.
  • Document incidents and accident reports using proper procedures.
  • Become knowledgeable of program funding and follow budget.
