About The Position

The Markets, part of Tiger Fuel Company, is hiring an Assistant Manager for upcoming gourmet gas station markets in the Charlottesville area. Working alongside the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager helps lead store operations and the team, deliver exceptional customer service, create an upbeat work environment, and maximize store profits through the deli. The role may suit a former restaurant manager, caterer, experienced grocery store manager, or someone ready to advance into a management position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of management experience in a restaurant, kitchen, or retail environment.
• High energy, self-starting approach and ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
• General proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and the Internet.
• Ability to learn new computer and technology skills quickly.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen before an employment offer.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule; the store operates seven days a week.
• Ability to be on one's feet for much of the day and to perform the job physically.

Responsibilities

• Model company values and build positive relationships with customers, employees, and the community.
• Supervise employees, including training and coaching.
• Guide deli operations and oversee catering services.
• Maintain Market standards for cleanliness and upkeep.
• Perform and train employees on opening and closing procedures.
• Assist the Store Manager with stock needs and inventory maintenance.
• Interact positively with vendors.
• Assist with propane filling and exchange as necessary.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with regular customers.
