About The Position

The Assistant Manager reports directly to the Program Manager, Supportive Housing Program. This role is responsible for scheduling and supporting front-line and custodial staff, assisting the Program Manager with rent collection and other administrative duties, and ensuring effective program/service delivery consistent with Atira’s mandate. The Assistant Manager will also work with the Program Manager to develop long-range program plans and foster strong relationships with partner agencies, businesses, and community groups to benefit tenants and Atira. All work must be conducted professionally and efficiently, complying with Atira's policies and consistent with the mission, vision, values, and philosophy of the parent society.

Requirements

  • One to three years front-line support work experience in increasingly more senior roles with at least one of those years in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience working with people who are facing multiple forms of oppression including but not limited to violence, abuse, homelessness, poverty, and racism
  • A Degree, Diploma or certificate in social work, social services, public health, building management, facilities management or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and skill-based training
  • Must have a valid first aid certificate
  • Must have a current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
  • Administrative and supervisory experience is required

  • Understanding of the impacts of colonialism, especially in Canada, including the legacy of the residential school system
