About The Position
FullSpeed Automotive is a multi-brand automotive service platform operating locations nationwide. The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in leading day-to-day store operations and ensuring the team provides fast, friendly, high-quality automotive service in a safe, clean, and well-run location. This hands-on role includes time in the service bay, at the front counter, and in the back office, and is a developmental step toward store leadership. The Assistant Manager helps lead and develop the team, deliver a positive customer experience, manage store and shop operations, and uphold service quality and safety standards. The role may lead the location in the Store Manager’s absence. Other job-related duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in a retail, automotive service, or customer-facing leadership role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that includes time in the service bay.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Comfort using point-of-sale and inventory systems.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and some holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in quick-lube, automotive service, or a related industry.
- Basic knowledge of automotive maintenance services, such as oil changes, fluid checks, and filters.
- Experience supervising or training team members in a retail or service environment.
- ASE certification(s), or willingness to obtain certifications as required by brand standards.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in supervising daily operations and lead the location in the manager’s absence.
- Coach, train, and motivate technicians and service advisors to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
- Assist with team scheduling to ensure coverage during peak hours and busy seasons.
- Help onboard and train new team members on service procedures, point-of-sale systems, and customer service standards.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment reflecting company values.
- Greet customers, explain services, and provide a fast, high-quality, trustworthy customer experience.
- Recommend services based on manufacturer guidelines and vehicle needs, helping customers make informed decisions.
- Resolve customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues when needed.
- Support efforts to build repeat business through excellent service and customer care.
- Assist with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and point-of-sale transactions.
- Help monitor inventory of parts, fluids, and supplies and place orders as directed by the Store Manager.
- Keep shop and customer areas clean, organized, and presentable.
- Support compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with tracking sales, productivity, and key performance metrics.
- Help ensure services are performed correctly and safely according to brand and manufacturer standards.
- Conduct or support quality checks on completed work.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure proper equipment use, chemical handling, and shop safety procedures.
- Help identify and address maintenance needs for shop equipment and facilities.
- Perform other job-related duties requested by the supervisor.
