About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining approaches for accomplishing store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department and adherence to policies, procedures, and visual standards. The Assistant Manager promotes merchandise and provides outstanding customer service, assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent, and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. The position also supports asset protection, staffing, inventory and sales oversight, and the completion of departmental responsibilities. It supervises employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training, assigning and directing work, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide employees and customers with knowledge and guidance across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Ensure quality customer service, including assisting customers as they enter and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards.
Protect company assets and financial information by maintaining effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
Perform general administrative duties and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
