About The Position

This position assists with the day-to-day management of operations at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Terminals 1 and 2, with shared responsibilities for planning, monitoring, and overseeing daily activities and utilization of MAC common use facilities, systems and equipment. This position oversees terminal and maintenance activities, concourses, and other airport facilities. Responds to facility issues, maintenance requests and initiates appropriate response as needed. Ensures tenants are adhering to MAC Policies and Ordinances. Monitors and resolves problems relating to passenger flow through the terminals, common use assets, baggage handling systems, and other terminal operations components. Works closely with airlines, tenants, MAC staff, vendors, contractors, and consultants to coordinate and facilitate all work to avoid disruption to normal airline/terminal operations. Oversees contracted services, vendors and related operating budgets as assigned. The Terminal Operations and Facilities Assistant Manager shall maintain and manage critical relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, especially those that require collaboration, coordination, and communication. This position participates in the department on-call rotation. This position will also serve as a key departmental representative within the North STAR Center (NSC), supporting integrated airport operations through assigned shifts and responsibilities, including real-time operational coordination, situational awareness, and response to irregular operations. This role requires familiarity with and operational use of key terminal systems such as the Airport Operational Database (AODB) and Resource Management System (RMS) and will support Terminal Operations in the management and optimization of common use resources. This is a second shift position working between the hours of 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM. This is a safety-sensitive position which will require a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in aviation, business or a related field
• In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate's degree and 2 years of experience with airport and/or airline operations activities and a high school diploma or GED
• In lieu of any degree, 4 years of experience with airport and/or airline operations activities and a high school diploma or GED
• Two years of experience coordinating operational, maintenance, and/or facility-related activities in an airport environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, the public and customers
• Strong communication, writing and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with limited supervisory oversight
• Ability to effectively multi-task
• Intermediate skill level using email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to respond to emergencies that may require returning to the airport after scheduled work hours
• Possession of a reliable vehicle to commute between jobsites
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily activity across Terminals 1 and 2, concourses, ramp areas, and other assigned facilities for safety, operational impacts, and compliance.
• Respond to incoming operational and maintenance service calls; perform initial investigations and initiate work orders as required.
• Resolve issues affecting passenger flow, baggage handling systems, terminal assets, and common use equipment.
• Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled utility shutdowns and assist with irregular operations, including stranded passenger support.
• Conduct routine inspections of terminal spaces, jet bridges, construction zones, and tenant areas; identify and track repair needs.
• Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and minor construction activities with MAC departments, contractors, airlines, and tenants.
• Support terminal setup needs including signage, stanchions, furniture, and queue management.
• Ensure technology applications used by Terminal Operations and Facilities are functioning and meeting operational requirements.
• Represents the department in the North STAR Center, providing real-time coordination, situational awareness, and irregular-operations response.
• Uses AODB and RMS to support Terminal Operations, optimize common use resources, and provide supplemental operational support to the Terminal Operations Coordinators team.
• Manage and coordinate repair and maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion and quality results.
• Track and administer warranty claims, damage repairs, and follow-up inspections.
• Oversee high-value contracts requiring Commission approval (such as Conveyance Maintenance, Automated People Movers, Loading Dock Operations, or Solid Waste & Recycling).
• Ensure contract compliance with vendors and tenants; identify performance gaps and facilitate resolutions.
• Assist with procurement of maintenance services, equipment, and contracted work.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in the rotating on-call schedule.
• Maintain strong working relationships with airlines, tenants, contractors, and government agencies.
• Monitor tenant activities for compliance with MAC policies, leases, and operational requirements.
• Respond to inquiries from the public, airlines, tenants, and contractors.
• Facilitate communication during construction impacts, operational disruptions, and utility outages.
• Monitor construction activity at Terminals 1 and 2 and other assigned areas for operational, safety, and customer-impact considerations.
• Participate in design reviews, construction coordination meetings, and project update sessions with MAC staff, consultants, contractors, airlines, tenants, and regulatory agencies.
• Provide input into miscellaneous modification projects and long-term Capital Improvement Program (CIP) initiatives.
• Perform miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned, including representing Terminal Operations and Facilities in internal committees and project teams.
