About The Position

This role serves as a key support function within the supply chain operations and logistics department. The Assistant Manager will act as the primary backup to the General Manager, leading the Distribution Center (DC) in their absence. The position involves close collaboration with 3PL leadership to manage labor needs, workflow, and productivity. It also requires partnering with various cross-functional teams such as Customer Service, IT, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure seamless daily operations. A significant aspect of the role is driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, workflow efficiency, and order accuracy, while monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implementing corrective actions. The Assistant Manager will also oversee critical warehouse processes, investigate operational issues, manage administrative tasks, and support special projects related to warehouse improvements.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in supply chain, warehousing, or DC operations
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a 3PL-managed environment.
Analytical mindset with a drive to improve processes and reduce waste.
Comfortable managing priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on operational environment.
Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, MS Excel and Powerpoint) is required.

Nice To Haves

3PL experience a plus
Experience in the Optical Industry preferred
Familiarity with commercial invoice formats & import/export procedures
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary backup to the General Manager; lead the DC in their absence.
Work closely with 3PL leadership to forecast labor needs, align daily workflow, and uphold productivity expectations.
Partner with Customer Service, IT, Quality, Purchasing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
Support and lead initiatives that reduce cost, improve workflow efficiency, and increase order accuracy.
Monitor KPIs and drive corrective actions with 3PL partners and internal teams.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Oversee key warehouse processes, including inbound/outbound operations, inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and returns.
Investigate issues such as mis-ships, system discrepancies, or product quality concerns; implement corrective actions quickly.
Lead critical DC administrative tasks such as reporting of inbound receipts, ensuring availability of warehouse supplies, coordination with building vendors, and document preparation for exports, cross-docks and factory direct shipments.
Support special projects such as warehouse reorganization, layout improvements, and process changes.
