About The Position

Join our retail team as an Assistant Manager, Store Operations at our flagship boutique located in the heart of Montreal’s Old Port! SSENSE Montreal spans five floors, offering a curated selection of high-end products that blend iconic brands with emerging designers. Become part of a passionate team of 60 employees and contribute to delivering an exceptional customer experience. As the Assistant Manager, Store Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing store processes across our retail concept’s hybrid omnichannel, walk-in, and appointment-based models. You will ensure the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of inventory flow to maximize the customer experience at every touchpoint. You will contribute to flawless execution and delivery to uphold SSENSE Montreal’s promise to its customers, while identifying and resolving issues that may impact the client journey. You will also coach your direct reports to improve performance and develop future leaders.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of management experience in a high-volume, customer-facing environment and retail operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor employees to achieve their goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in building trusting relationships within a multi-channel environment.
  • Proficiency with various technologies (Google Suite, inventory systems, POS, mobile apps, etc.).
  • Physical ability to lift heavy boxes (15kg).
  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends, mornings, and evenings, to meet the boutique's operational needs.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in French; English is a major asset.
  • Customer-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate the entire in-store supply chain (inbound and outbound flow) to maintain optimal stock density and efficient turnover by collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
  • Act as the guardian of KPIs. This involves translating operational data into concrete actions for the team while managing payroll budgets to maximize productivity without sacrificing service quality.
  • Manage the entire employee lifecycle: from recruitment and initial training to performance management, continuous coaching, and succession planning.
  • Take responsibility for risk management. This includes the physical security of the store, the accuracy of financial transactions, maintenance of security systems, and strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
  • Support the appointment-based sales model by facilitating processes and resolving issues to guarantee a seamless customer journey, from the initial greeting to after-sales service.
