Assistant Manager, Social Media - West Elm

About The Position

This role is responsible for planning and executing brand social media initiatives, including influencer partnerships, content creation, paid social support, and reporting. The Assistant Manager will manage user-generated content (UGC) and partner with vendors to increase UGC presence. The position requires a strong understanding of social media tools and platforms, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects efficiently.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of social media, content, and/or online brand marketing experience.
  • Significant project management experience.
  • Undergraduate degree required, concentration in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism or related communications field preferred.
  • Editorial experience in branded content or copywriting.
  • Actively involved in social media space, with a proven understanding of how to use social media tools to effectively listen, communicate, and build relationships.
  • Hands-on experience with online communities and social networking sites in a professional capacity, including Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, and other emerging platforms.
  • Basic familiarity with Photoshop and experience creating graphics for visual-based platforms like Pinterest.
  • Technical understanding of existing digital platforms, emerging technologies, and integration strategies.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to successfully interact directly with customers and members of the community in a public forum.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective relationships with all levels within the company.
  • Effective time and project management skills, with ability to organize and prioritize efficiently.
  • Highly creative and self-motivated, with strong conceptual and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using social media tools like Sprinklr and Curalate for scheduling content and reporting performance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute brand social media initiatives.
  • Manage influencer partnerships, including updating trackers and communicating with partners.
  • Shoot and edit social-first video for social, site, and email channels.
  • Schedule branded content and push content live across channels.
  • Interact with consumer-facing content, including DMs, tagged UGC, and responding to comments.
  • Support paid social media requests, including coordinating creative assets and communication with the marketing team.
  • Gather paid social data for weekly updates and uploading.
  • Prepare weekly trend reports showcasing industry trends, best practices, and competitive activity.
  • Track and report on weekly and quarterly organic social metrics across all channels.
  • Manage UGC content, including weekly moderation, UGC reporting, and supporting UGC expansion.
  • Partner with vendors to increase UGC presence, approve and upload UGC to the website.
