About The Position

The Assistant Manager of Nutrition supports the Nutrition department in advancing nutrition and food safety initiatives that promote health and food security for The Greater Boston Food Bank and its network of Agency Partners. This role leads the development of nutrition education resources, supports implementation of GBFB’s Nutrition Policy, and manages the growth and optimization of online nutrition tools for both the public and GBFB’s Agency Partner network. The position also contributes to nutrition-related programs and training and supports broader departmental priorities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, public health, or related field required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in the non-profit/anti-hunger/public health sector.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with diverse populations, age ranges, and group sizes in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Highly efficient in managing time and coordinating multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.
  • SERV Safe Manager Certification or ability to complete within 3 months of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle; and willingness to travel within the GBFB eastern MA service area preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) and active Massachusetts state (LDN) licensure preferred.
  • Experience with food service or recipe development preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of health and nutrition-related activities for GBFB’s agency network.
  • Lead nutrition analysis of incoming inventory utilizing the SWAP ranking system.
  • Execute food safety courses for GBFB staff and Agency Partners.
  • Leverage Salesforce to ensure Agency Partner food safety training compliance.
  • Assist the Senior Manager of Nutrition in content creation for GBFB’s culturally responsive initiative work and learning management system as needed.
  • Lead and assist with the implementation of nutrition initiatives within GBFB’s agency network as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Nutrition on managing Click ‘N Cook. Tasks include sourcing and editing recipes, identifying photos, and creating blog content.
  • Support nutrition initiatives, including assisting with caseload and program management for GBFB’s Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) Medically Tailored Food Box program as needed, such as completing intake assessments, conducting follow-up calls, maintaining client records in Salesforce for HRSN clients, and creating nutrition education handouts for food boxes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of research and best practices in the areas of nutrition and food safety.
  • Provide cross-functional nutrition coverage to maintain consistent program delivery.
  • Perform all other related tasks and other duties as assigned.
