About The Position

The Assistant Manager of Facility Events and Rentals, within DAPER Facilities, reports directly to the Manager of Events/Rentals, Sport Camps and Scheduling. This role provides leadership and management for the evening and weekend operations of DAPER Facilities, with a primary focus on managing and supervising athletic events. The position works in conjunction with MIT departments, students, coaches, faculty, and staff to deliver event support services with all appropriate providers, including catering, audiovisual, and custodial services. Responsibilities include establishing work assignments for staff, attending and supervising events, and compiling data on facility usage related to events and rentals. The Assistant Manager is part of the DAPER Facilities and Operations Team, contributing to the stewardship of department-supported programs, services, and buildings. This role also provides evening and weekend coordination and contact with the DAPER Facilities Team, Recreation staff, Intercollegiate Athletics, and the Department of Facilities to ensure high-quality event, rental, repair, and custodial support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in or an in-depth understanding of athletics and recreation.
  • Direct experience functioning in support of events.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Additional skills and experience in employee supervision.
  • Additional skills and experience in computer operations.
  • Demonstrated and practiced effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to details and their impact.
  • Demonstrated experience and preference for working collaboratively in support of shared goals.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule in support of daily operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NCAA sport-specific playing and timing rules.
