Friendship is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Manager of Dietary to join our Richfield Health Center dietary team. The Assistant Dietary Manager is responsible for providing and maintaining sanitary conditions in which resident, visitor and staff meals are prepared. They ensure that all food is high quality and nutritious. This position is located in Salem, VA.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word preferred
  • Able to read and understand menus and diet orders.
  • Strong culinary knowledge and cooking skills
  • Good organizational skills for dealing with diverse duties and staff
  • Must be up-to-date on all regulations and health codes
  • Must have direct knowledge of online food ordering, inventory management, production needs and adequate with diet tracking systems.
  • Maintains an appropriate disposition for work in the geriatric population and displays a polite and courteous manner at all times.
  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Must have knowledge of OBRA regulations

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the dietary department operates efficiently and safely.
  • Responsible for the performance of direct reports as well as maintaining high standards of quality of food, service, and health and safety.
  • Insures work assignments and delegated appropriately by Supervisors and team.
  • Schedules dietary team to ensure staffing meets all operational needs and supports Dietary Director in meeting budget expectations concerning labor hours.
  • Assists Dietary Director with food purchasing, procurement, inventory and preparation assignments.
  • Monitors serving line operations, food quality, delivery times, accuracy and temperatures.
  • Maintains temperature, cooling and cleaning logs.
  • Monitor food production and ensure that resident dietary needs are met on a daily basis
  • Ensure work areas, equipment, food, self and staff are in line with policies, procedures and food safety guidelines
  • Ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed to ensure safety of self, other staff and residents
  • Manage departmental assignments to best meet the needs of the facility and residents
