About The Position

To assist the Manager and Director of Children and Family Services in program operations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the children’s counseling, parenting classes, and child/teen groups. This position will also perform the duties of a Children’s Advocate, supervise interns, and Children’s Advocates in the Chicago locations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work and LCSW required.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience and experience working with children, domestic violence, mental health/substance use preferred including strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • 40-hour domestic violence training, ICDVP and CPR & First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office Suite along with excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Possess the ability to work efficiently and independently and be highly organized with attention to detail along with strong project management, interpersonal and problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Skilled in working with sensitive issues and in maintaining professional boundaries with clients.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement, professionalism, flexibility, and commitment to teamwork.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel throughout the organization’s service area.
  • Ability to handle physical requirements to accomplish daily responsibilities including but not limited to lifting to 35lbs using both hands/arms on a regular basis and climbing stairs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Children’s and Family Services Program at our Chicago Locations, hire and supervise required staff.
  • Carry a Case load that consists of service/safety plans, assessments, counseling, support groups, case management, crisis intervention, advocacy, safety, and conflict resolution. Facilitate parenting classes.
  • Administer measures/assessments to the parent and children to assess effectiveness of our treatment to provide guidance and direction for setting goals.
  • Provide clinical intervention and support, which includes being on-call for critical issues.
  • Ensuring staff, interns, and volunteers are supported and have the resources to do their jobs
  • Facilitate regular department meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to advance wrap around services and a strong team culture.
  • Collaborate with local schools and community organizations to provide education on healthy relationships
  • As assigned, attend meetings and act as a liaison in the community.
  • Teach and/or assist in supervising the WINGS 40-hour domestic violence training and other classes that provide CEUs as required.
  • Immediately report child abuse to the Department of Children and Family Services as mandated by law and in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records including up-to-date client files and case notes and submit reports and program evaluations within established timelines.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
