About The Position

The Assistant Manager, Marketing will support the Marketing Manager across the full marketing mix—campaigns, events, promotions, sponsorships, and cross-functional programs—while building the skills to grow into a Marketing Manager. This position is part of the Manager-in-Training program, which has the intention of promoting candidates to a Marketing Manager role within 1 – 2 years, if the candidate remains employed, expectations of the program are met, and there exists a suitable open role. If they are, this may require you to relocate to that role, which may be located anywhere within the United States. If at that time, you are not willing or able to relocate, there may not be another open role, which may result in separation of employment at that time. In accepting this Manager in Training role, you understand and acknowledge that your eventual working location is undetermined and, while preferences can be expressed, all location assignments are ultimately dictated by Company need, so no regions or locations are promised or guaranteed. The successful candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily. Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in marketing, retail, events, hospitality, business development, community relations, shopping centers, or a related field preferred.
  • Foundational exposure to marketing, promotions, events, digital communications, customer engagement, or business development, with a demonstrated interest in developing these skills further.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures and processes, while seeking guidance, feedback, and support as appropriate.
  • Experience assisting with marketing activities such as content coordination, reporting, project tracking, campaign execution, event support, social media, or digital communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to accuracy, detail, tone, and brand consistency.
  • Working knowledge of common marketing tools and platforms preferred, such as email marketing software, social media platforms, website/content management systems, CRM systems, or analytics tools.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track deadlines, follow through on assignments, and support timely execution of marketing initiatives.
  • Developing analytical skills with the ability to review basic marketing data, identify trends, and learn how insights inform recommendations and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across departments and with tenants, vendors, community partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with an interest in developing, sponsorship, business development, and partnership management capabilities.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to seek mentorship, training, feedback, and hands-on experience to grow into a future Marketing Manager role.
  • Flexibility in the work schedule, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support marketing planning and execution by assisting the Marketing Manager in coordinating campaigns, events, promotions, media, sponsorships, and cross-functional initiatives that align with property goals and Macerich brand standards.
  • Learn and contribute to property marketing strategy by gathering market insights, tenant updates, community information, performance data, and other relevant inputs to help inform marketing plans, business decisions, and recommendations for assigned initiatives.
  • Support the Marketing Manager in developing and implementing assigned property-level marketing programs, with responsibility for coordinating select campaigns, events, partnerships, or initiatives from planning through post-event reporting.
  • Assist in tenant, community, vendor, and partner engagement by supporting communication, coordination, follow-up, and relationship-building efforts that strengthen property perception and advance marketing objectives.
  • Represent the marketing function in select tenant, vendor, community, and internal meetings, helping to communicate priorities, gather feedback, and support alignment across stakeholders.
  • Develop marketing communication skills by supporting the creation, review, and distribution of digital content, collateral, presentations, social media, and other marketing materials to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, and alignment with company standards.
  • Support campaign and event execution by coordinating timelines, deliverables, approvals, vendor needs, and on-site details to help ensure marketing programs are completed effectively and on schedule.
  • Exercise independent judgment within established guidelines to prioritize assigned projects, recommend improvements, resolve routine marketing issues, and escalate more complex matters as appropriate.
  • Build reporting and analytical skills by tracking marketing metrics, campaign performance, event results, and key performance indicators, while learning how to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze campaign, event, digital, and business development performance data to help prepare reports, identify trends, and support recommendations related to marketing strategy and resource allocation.
  • Participate in business development efforts by supporting advertising, sponsorship, media sales, and partnership opportunities, including assisting with prospect identification, proposal support, fulfillment tracking, and progress toward revenue goals.
  • Collaborate on budget and resource management by assisting with expense tracking, invoice coordination, project documentation, and fiscal accountability related to marketing programs and initiatives.
  • Support company-wide marketing, cause branding, community, and property-level initiatives by assisting with local implementation and ensuring alignment with broader company objectives.
  • Engage in professional development by actively seeking mentorship, training, feedback, and hands-on experience to build the skills needed to grow into a future Marketing Manager role.
