About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role helps oversee daily store activities, merchandise flow and presentation, store records, loss prevention, safety, cleanliness, and associate training. The position also includes physical store-maintenance tasks and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Provide approachable customer service and address customer questions or concerns.
Organize and move merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping—including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts—and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure associates follow them as well.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Support a positive, safe, and respectful environment through professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
