About The Position

The Assistant Maintenance Engineer I provides general maintenance and repair services for AltaPointe facilities, including Outpatient Programs, Group Homes, Administration buildings, and Hospitals as assigned. The role helps maintain a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for consumers, staff, and visitors by completing routine maintenance and urgent repairs.

The position requires performing maintenance work across electrical, painting, glass replacement, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing tasks; inspecting, servicing, and repairing maintenance equipment; and advising the Facility Manager about needed repairs. The employee is expected to seek daily supervision, develop skills, accept suggestions for improvement, treat consumers with dignity and respect, protect their privacy and confidentiality, cooperate with colleagues, participate in Performance Improvement activities, complete tasks promptly, and follow AltaPointe policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in the maintenance field.
• Valid Alabama driver's license and a good driving record.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to use power tools, hand tools, and electrical test equipment such as volt-ohm meters.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance at AltaPointe facilities as assigned.
• Perform electrical repairs, painting, and replacement of broken building glass, including windows or doors.
• Perform carpentry work, including sheetrock repair and other skilled tasks.
• Maintain air conditioners, heating equipment, and plumbing equipment.
• Perform other maintenance assignments as necessary.
• Inspect, service, and/or repair equipment used during maintenance.
• Advise the Facility Manager of needed repairs.
• Seek supervision daily and actively work to enhance skills.
• Accept and employ suggestions for improvement.
• Treat consumers with dignity and respect and respect their privacy and confidentiality.
• Be pleasant and cooperative with others and work cooperatively with AltaPointe employees.
• Actively participate in Performance Improvement activities.
• Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Follow AltaPointe policies and procedures.
