About The Position

Assists in directing production, distribution, quality control, and marketing operations for location or assigned territory of Heartland Co-op by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees as directed by the supervising Location Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of AS 400 accounting and inventory software.
  • May be required to have a weighing license and a grain grading certificate.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates production, distribution, warehousing, and sales in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by Heartland Co-op and Regional Manager.
  • Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Reviews expenses and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of location.
  • Reviews operations and directs sales program to develop income and new markets.
  • Location leadership of grain quality, inventory control and safety compliance initiatives.
  • Directs preparation of accounting records (sales, inventory, prepay, and expenses) for the location.
  • Recommends budgets to management.
  • Fills responsibility role and function of location manager during site Location Manager’s absence.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Within parameters set by Location Manager, Assistant Loc Mgr will directly supervises employees in the location.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities may include involvement levels of interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
