About The Position

The Town of Canmore is seeking passionate individuals for casual Assistant Lifeguard positions at the Aquatics Centre at Elevation Place. This role supports the safety supervision function and provision of services, acting as a junior member of the Aquatics team. Under the guidance of certified National Lifeguards, the Assistant Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and sanitary environment. Duties include pool safety supervision, providing emergency support, delivering exceptional customer service, participating in team training, and ensuring facility cleanliness and maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to the community, learn about the aquatics industry, and develop skills towards becoming a fully certified lifeguard. It is particularly well-suited for high school students seeking to build workplace skills.

Requirements

Bronze Cross
Intermediate First Aid & CPR “C”
Minimum working age of 15 years
Strong interpersonal skills
Confident, personable and approachable nature
Willingness to go above and beyond in providing excellent customer service
Safety-oriented mindset
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to submit required certifications and documentation, including driver's abstract and records checks prior to beginning work.

Responsibilities

Provide safety supervision of the pools.
