About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing, analyzing, tasting, documenting, and approving samples of raw materials and finished products that are sent to the laboratory. The position involves documenting issues related to raw materials and defective products, entering data into SAP software and other computer systems, and monitoring standards for alcohols, ingredients, and raw materials. The assistant will also contact suppliers to schedule deliveries of supplies, complete and archive quality documents necessary for deliveries and product lifecycles, and perform analyses using laboratory equipment such as spectrophotometers, turbidimeters, and densimeters. Additionally, the role provides technical support to the distillery's laboratory operations, including distillations and microbiology tests, and is responsible for calibrating, adjusting, and maintaining laboratory equipment, as well as tracking the calibration schedule. The position also involves completing shipping documents for the quality assurance department and performing other related tasks.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical (CEGEP) background in sciences, food science, chemistry, or biology.
  • Relevant laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of English is an asset for supporting the BTC and other collaborators outside Quebec (25% of the time) and for understanding scientific documentation.
  • Possess an excellent sense of smell and taste (tasting evaluation test to be passed successfully).
  • Possess computer skills (Word, Excel, SAP) and the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize, and write various reports.
  • Demonstrate efficiency, leadership, initiative, and the ability to manage priorities.
  • Ability to manage priorities well and adapt to changes.
  • Availability to work different shifts, including weekends, as per company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, analyzes, tastes, documents, and approves samples of raw materials and finished products sent to the laboratory.

  • Performs data entry into SAP software and other computer systems.
  • Ensures monitoring of alcohol, ingredient, and raw material standards.
  • Contacts suppliers to schedule deliveries of supplies.
  • Completes and archives quality documents necessary for deliveries and product lifecycles.
  • Performs analyses using laboratory equipment (spectrophotometer, turbidimeter, densimeter, and others) and provides technical support to the distillery's laboratory operations (distillations, microbiology tests, and others).
  • Calibrates, adjusts, and maintains laboratory equipment and ensures monitoring of the calibration schedule.
  • Completes shipping documents for the quality assurance department.
  • Performs all other related tasks.
