About The Position

Provides leadership in the day-to-day operational functions of the Kroc Center and serves as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Area Commander and Kroc Director. Supports the leadership and finance personnel by recommending programmatic and operational priorities and modifications based on regularly scheduled analysis of internal reports. Supports the standardization of policy and procedure across all departments by working collaboratively with the Leadership Team to create updated informational material and communication procedures. Ensures systems are in place to encourage effective internal and external communication while identifying potential for growth in all areas of the Kroc Center. Oversees and ensures best practices, policies, and procedures are followed within Membership, Marketing, volunteer utilization efforts, community outreach, and emergency preparedness efforts. Contributes to the planning and administration of new programming.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of nonprofit business, especially in the areas of marketing and sales.
  • Ability to perform and adhere to all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of this organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, market, sell and evaluate community and member events.
  • Ability to plan and administer a budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same.
  • Ability to analyze, prepare and maintain financial records and reports in an accurate and complete manner.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of subordinate employees.
  • Ability to develop, lead, monitor, and analyze an effective marketing strategy and activities for the Kroc Center.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and conduct orientations, meetings, trainings, and public presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures as well as contract/licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact in the absence of the Senior Kroc Officer and Kroc Director; responds to escalated issues and notifies the supervisor of unique situations.
  • Researches, complies, interprets, analyzes and summarizes information from and for various reports; collaborates with the Area Command Business Manager to ensure efficient reporting.
  • Provides operational and programmatic recommendations based on financial data and other statistics to the Senior Kroc Officer and Area Commander.
  • Assists supervisors in budget preparation and business planning; space allocation; and office supply and inventory management.
  • Provides feedback and recommendations for long-range planning and administrative needs.
  • Supervises, instructs, and trains membership and volunteer staff in the proper methods and procedures for conducting work including working with Area Command to ensure that all financial controls and requirements are met in an accurate and timely fashion; monitors work for compliance with established program policies, procedures, National Kroc Standards, and regulations; conducts performance evaluations.
  • Serves as a leader in Kroc Center emergency preparedness planning to include policy documentation and responder collaboration and partnerships; leads safety training; exhibits calm and consistent leadership in the areas of security and crisis situations.
  • Represents the Kroc Center in the community at various events, conferences, fairs, etc. to articulate vision and mission, program features, outreach activities, and community impact; maintains a positive and professional relationship with children, parents, staff, community leaders, volunteers, and board members as a representative of The Salvation Army.
  • Responsible for collaboratively creating, communicating, and implementing an effective, comprehensive marketing and membership growth plan and measuring its success. Plan reflects Kroc’s vision and mission, aligns with the Area Command overall marketing plan to ensure consistency in public information shared, and targets under-served population.
  • Responsible for the editorial leadership, design, production and distribution of all Kroc Center marketing materials, publications and advertising including website and social media; ensures active and prominent social media presence over leading platforms that appeal to different generations and interests; oversees internal communications to ensure consistency of message, vision, and mission.
  • Maintains awareness of system, policy, procedure, etc. updates and upgrades to ensure effectiveness locally; via subordinate staff or in conjunction with Divisional/Territorial contacts, provides recommendations and/or solutions to challenges; shares updates with the leadership team, as necessary.
