About The Position

The Assistant Kitchen Manager (AKM) at Wyld Child supports the Kitchen Manager (KM) in the operations of the back of the house, focusing on financial performance, personnel management, guest service, food quality, safety, and leadership development. Success in this role requires a passion for the restaurant business, embodying the company's core values, and leading with heart and humor. The position involves working both AM and PM shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Kitchen Key Employees, Kitchen Manager, and General Manager to achieve their goals.
  • Support the General Manager in all aspects of restaurant and retail operations.
  • Lead the kitchen team to culinary and financial success.
  • Identify and develop future leaders.
  • Partner with the Office Manager and General Manager in maintaining back-of-house staffing levels through job postings, recruitment, new hires, orientation, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain a fun and professional work environment.
  • Develop and maintain standards for food quality, visual, and taste.
  • Develop and maintain educational programs for kitchen staff.
  • Hold regular kitchen leadership meetings.
  • Manage financials and budgets of the restaurant, including labor cost, food costs, and expenses.
  • Be a presence throughout the kitchen, maintaining an upbeat kitchen energy.
  • Quickly and professionally respond to all employee inquiries.
  • Support Front of House Leadership & Team.
  • Oversee and maintain safety and sanitation standards, including achieving high scores on health inspections.
  • Prepare food according to specifications.
  • Maintain standards in food and beverage quality.
  • Safely utilize a variety of kitchen tools and machinery.
