About The Position

Northwestern Counseling & Support Services is seeking a thoughtful, dependable, and service-driven Assistant House Manager (AHM) to support the daily operations of a Therapeutic Community Residence (TCR). In compliance with Vermont DAIL regulations, this role serves as the designated Housing Manager for the residence and helps ensure a safe, therapeutic, well-organized environment where residents can build skills, strengthen independence, and experience meaningful community living. The AHM provides administrative, clinical, and operational support within the TCR program while working closely with leadership, nursing, and direct service staff to maintain strong programming and full compliance with Therapeutic Community Residence standards. The position also includes a required in-residence presence. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who values both relationship-based direct service and strong residential coordination. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, or related field; or equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of experience in community mental health or care coordination, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the residence, including staffing coordination, scheduling coverage, maintaining communication systems, and ensuring the home has the supplies, equipment, and resources needed to operate effectively and meet licensing expectations.
  • Serve as a primary daytime direct support presence in the home, creating learning opportunities that help residents build confidence and practical skills for greater independence, community tenure, and successful transitions to more independent living.
  • Coordinate and help provide programming and clinical interventions across business hours, evenings, and weekends, including teaching and modeling daily living skills such as household routines, budgeting, meal planning and cooking, grocery shopping, medication support, time management, and pro-social engagement.
  • Provide direct service support as needed to promote safety, well-being, and a healthy living environment, while collaborating with Crisis Services and other team members to respond effectively to resident needs.
