Day to day as aN Assistant House Manager As an Assistant Home Manager, you will embark on an exciting journey each day, dedicated to supporting young men with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a residential group home setting. Your role involves working side-by-side with staff to provide hands-on support and oversee daily routines while prioritizing the safety and well-being of everyone in the home. With the potential for challenging behaviors from some individuals, your ability to remain calm and consistent is crucial. You'll actively help de-escalate situations and follow behavior support plans, showcasing your leadership by modeling appropriate responses for your team. Balancing direct care, staff supervision, documentation, and problem-solving, you will play a vital part in maintaining a structured environment. While this role demands dedication and compassion, the impact you make on the lives of the individuals you support is profoundly rewarding, highlighting the importance of your unwavering commitment to excellence and empathy.

Requirements

  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and consistent when facing challenging behaviors.
  • Experience or working knowledge of supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and safety-focused when responding to challenging or aggressive behaviors.
  • Strong understanding of de-escalation techniques and willingness to use trained safety interventions.
  • Exceptional leadership and coaching skills to guide and support Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
  • Knowledge of behavior support plans, incident reporting, and documentation.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in high-stress or crisis situations.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Unwavering commitment to dignity, respect, consistency, and safety for the individuals served.
