About The Position

This is an anticipated vacancy for an Assistant High School Baseball Coach at Grove City Senior High School. The primary goal of this position is to instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The role also emphasizes instructing and demonstrating behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in student athletes. The success of athletic programs significantly influences the community's image of the school system, and while community/parent pressure for winning is acknowledged, it must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and mental health. The position involves extended time commitments, potential risk of injury, and due process considerations. Requirements

Ability to assist the head coach organize and supervise the sports program.
Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
Ability to continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the program.
Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
Knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations.
Understanding of the proper administrative line of command.
Awareness of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.

Responsibilities

Assist the head coach in organizing and supervising the sports program.
Examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the program.
Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
Promote the development and demonstration of character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship in student athletes.
Give constant attention to student athletes' conduct.
Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant during practices, games, and while traveling.
Provide training rules and other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete.
Assist in initiating programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
Direct student managers and statisticians.
Have thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Grove City Area School District's Board of Education.
Have knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations and implement them consistently.
Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels.
Be aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
