About The Position
Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Head Mechanic to support the team. This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years' of hands-on commercial truck repair experience
- Experience supporting or supervising mechanics in a shop environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Valid driver's license
- Maintain a drug-free lifestyle (BBD complies with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act)
Nice To Haves
- Vocational training or community college courses in automotive technology or related fields is preferred
- CDL preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles
- Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks
- Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and documentation
- Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
- Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics
- Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies
- Other duties as assigned
