Requirements

  • Minimum education level: high school diploma
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in residential care services
  • Ability to complete training required for position
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise manner
  • Ability to interact with peers in a positive and supportive manner
  • Ability to provide supervision and leadership to staff
  • Verification of health status relating to the job requirements
  • Three references deemed acceptable to the agency
  • Current and valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the basic duties and responsibilities of Direct Support Staff.
  • Supervise and direct staff in their job performance and duties.
  • Train and supervise staff in client programs and activities.
  • Assist in the development and planning of site programs and activities.
  • Identify problems and situations interfering with the consumer’s progress in meeting program goals and communicate them to the manager.
  • Attend all person-centered planning meetings, related program planning meetings, and in-service training pertaining to consumers.
  • Maintain awareness of the site’s policies and procedures and those of state regulatory agencies, and monitor compliance.
  • Manage and supervise the use of all in-home funds and any necessary reports.
  • Assist in the hiring and training of new staff with the manager (orientation, Toolbox training, CMH training, and annual updates).
  • Responsible for scheduling with the assistance of the manager.
  • May use disciplinary action reports and report all situations to the manager for proper disciplinary action.
  • Attend monthly meetings with the manager to discuss any problems or situations.
  • Perform other responsibilities such as monthly reports, documentation, and any other required forms pertaining to consumer care when the manager is not available, including S.A.L.’s, incident reports, medical forms, QIP reports, vehicle maintenance, and general maintenance.
