About The Position

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent positions supervise and participate in the work of crews engaged in the maintenance of the turf, greens, aprons, tees, bunkers, and other landscaped areas of City-owned golf courses; inspect course conditions on a daily basis; program schedules for irrigation systems; manage fertilizer and chemical applications; and perform other duties as assigned. NOTE: Eligible benefited employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).

Requirements

  • Two years of full-time paid greenskeeping experience at a golf course.
  • One year of full-time paid greenskeeping experience at a golf course AND two years of full-time paid grounds maintenance experience.
  • A valid California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising crews responsible for greenskeeping at a golf course, general landscape maintenance or equipment repair.
  • Professional Golfers Association (PGA) or United States Golf Association (USGA) agronomic tournament experience.
