The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supports the golf course agronomy operation. The role directs and delegates work to grounds staff, the Irrigation Technician, the Mechanic, and other on-course supervisory personnel; communicates daily with the Golf Course Superintendent and Head Golf Professional about course conditions and playability; and assists with agronomy programs, maintenance equipment, workplace safety, staffing, and course improvements.

Requirements

• Eagerness to learn.
• Ability to operate machinery.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Understanding of club financials.
• Thorough working knowledge of the club’s agronomy operation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and delegate activities to grounds staff, the Irrigation Technician, the Mechanic, and other on-course supervisory personnel.
• Communicate daily with the Golf Course Superintendent and Head Golf Professional about golf course conditions and playability.
• Keep permits and licenses pertaining to the agronomy department up to date.
• Handle chemicals and hazardous substances safely and according to the law.
• Assist with implementing fertilizer and pesticide programs.
• Operate maintenance equipment and calibrate and operate each piece of equipment.
• Maintain a safe work environment for agronomy associates and provide them with regular safety training.
• Assist in overseeing capital improvements to the golf course.
• Hire and train maintenance personnel.
