About The Position

TPC Scottsdale, home of the WM Phoenix Open, is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This role directly supervises the Golf Course Maintenance crew and assists in the daily supervision of golf course maintenance operations. The Assistant Superintendent will assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations. As Arizona's only PGA TOUR property, TPC Scottsdale offers a unique opportunity to experience the high standards of quality and service associated with the TOUR.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in turf management or related field, or trades training and work-related experience in turf management.
  • One to two years of golf course maintenance experience in progressively responsible positions, with knowledge of general business administration practices as applied to golf course operations.
  • Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the work of others, assisting with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance reviews for the Golf Course Maintenance Crew.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of all tasks relevant to various foreman, operator, gardener, and technician positions.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of proper care and operation of all maintenance equipment and be able to perform any task associated with maintaining the golf course or equipment.
  • Train staff on proper equipment operation, established procedures, and techniques.
  • Assist with promoting and enforcing safety practices in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, including training employees in safety procedures.
  • Assist in managing the daily departmental workload.
  • Ensure the overall organization and cleanliness of the golf course, equipment, and maintenance facility.
  • Assume the duties of the Irrigation Foreman or Application Foreman as required.
  • Direct special repairs or modifications projects.
  • Assist in closely monitoring and controlling departmental expenses to conform to budget constraints.
  • Communicate on a regular basis via a 2-way radio system.
  • Wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards.
  • Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
