About The Position

This position assists the Superintendents in supervising the crew, assigning daily work, and maintaining the golf courses. It helps ensure the grounds are kept in pristine, tournament-quality condition. The role also involves maintaining and directing repairs to the irrigation system, ensuring fertilizer and pesticide applications are made and recorded according to product labels, and operating and maintaining golf course equipment when needed. The position follows state and local safety and environmental standards and performs other duties as directed.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment, and irrigation technology.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and long hours when necessary.
• Keen attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
• SC Certified pesticide applicator license, or ability to obtain one within 60 days.
• Ability to endure long hours exposed to various weather conditions.
• Ability to walk and stand for lengthy periods.
• Ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb frequently.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50–70 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• A two- or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendents in supervising the crew and distributing daily work assignments.
• Participate in golf course maintenance and ensure grounds are maintained at pristine, tournament-quality conditions.
• Assist in supervising and training a crew of more than 20 employees.
• Maintain the irrigation system and direct repairs.
• Ensure fertilizer and pesticide applications are made and recorded according to product labels.
• Operate and maintain golf course equipment when necessary.
• Follow state and local safety and environmental standards.
• Perform other duties as directed.
