About The Position

This position assists the Superintendents in supervising the crew, assigning daily work, and participating in golf course maintenance. The role helps ensure the golf course grounds are maintained in pristine, tournament-quality condition. It also involves maintaining and directing repairs to the irrigation system, ensuring fertilizer and pesticide applications are properly applied and recorded, operating and maintaining golf course equipment as needed, and following state and local safety and environmental standards. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment, and irrigation technology.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and long hours when necessary.
• Keen attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to endure long hours exposed to various weather conditions.
• Ability to walk and stand for lengthy periods.
• Ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb frequently.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50–70 pounds.
• SC Certified pesticide applicator license, or ability to obtain one within 60 days.

Nice To Haves

• A two- or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Assist Superintendents with supervising the crew.
• Disperse daily crew work assignments.
• Participate in golf course maintenance and help maintain pristine, tournament-quality grounds.
• Assist in supervising and training a crew of 20 or more employees.
• Maintain the irrigation system and direct repairs.
• Ensure fertilizer and pesticide applications are applied and recorded according to product labels.
• Operate and maintain golf course equipment when necessary.
• Follow state and local safety and environmental standards.
• Perform other duties as directed.
