Under general supervision, this role coordinates, develops, and trains staff engaged in the care and maintenance of golf course grounds and park sites. The position operates specialized equipment for golf course maintenance and is responsible for the development and supervision of the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, and related areas. This includes identifying problems, initiating measures to prevent turf damage, and inspecting the course to determine the need for redesign to improve playability. The role also involves preparing annual budgets, requisitioning supplies, maintaining records, and monitoring expenditures. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and supervising employees in various maintenance activities such as mowing, tree trimming, fertilizing, and applying chemicals. The position also determines construction, maintenance, and repair requirements for park and golf course amenities, oversees crews or contractors, and operates specialized equipment. Minor adjustments and maintenance to equipment are also part of the role, as is landscape management and the design, installation, and care of plant materials. Applying fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides, as well as designing, installing, and maintaining irrigation systems, are key duties.
