About The Position

The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach instructs student athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to support individual and team success. The role also promotes moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence, while fostering positive community relations among school and community stakeholders. The assistant coach reports to the head coach and high school athletic director and supervises the assigned level of the program under the head coach’s direction.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of girls basketball.
Possess or have the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, acquire CHSSA coaching registration, and complete a concussion course as required by state legislation and CHSAA bylaws.
CPR and AED certification required.
Previous successful teaching, coaching, and/or sport participation experience.
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

Responsibilities

Assist with organizing and developing the high school girls basketball program.
Supervise assigned-level program activities under the direction of the head coach.
Provide the head coach with information about the assigned program level, including scores, schedules, sites, discipline concerns, and procedures.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment for the assigned level.
Schedule and attend practices and develop and implement individual and team training plans in conjunction with overall program goals and philosophy.
Confirm that each athlete is cleared by the athletic office to participate.
Comply with rules and regulations established by CCSD, the Centennial League, and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
Monitor athletes’ attendance, behavior, and academic status.
Use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
Recognize signs and symptoms of concussion and remove players exhibiting them.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
