About The Position

This position is responsible for driving and implementing the business plan for their area of responsibility to achieve facility goals in production, quality, safety, and operational improvements. The role involves forecasting and managing staffing, workload, and performance, as well as overseeing financial aspects like expenses, asset utilization, and business reports. The Assistant General Manager ensures compliance with logistics and company quality and safety standards, resolves associate, customer, and supplier concerns, and acts as a community liaison. A key part of the role is supervising and managing associates and leaders, providing direction, feedback, and development opportunities, and upholding company policies and procedures. The position emphasizes building high-performing teams, fostering a culture of belonging, attracting and retaining talent, and acting with integrity and transparency. It also focuses on serving customers by delivering results, adapting to customer needs, and making data-driven decisions. Continuous improvement, embracing new technologies, and supporting change are also core aspects of the role.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field (e.g., Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management); and 2 years experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide
OR 2 years experience as a Walmart Logistics Operations Manager including supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates
OR 4 years experience in a senior management role in an operations/distribution/logistics/retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide.
Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

Responsibilities

Communicate with or to individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g., customers, suppliers, associates).
Drive, develop, and implement the business plan for area of responsibility to achieve facility goals (e.g., production, quality, safety) and implement operational improvements.
Forecast and follow up on staffing, workload, and performance results to meet business demands.
Manage assigned financial aspects by monitoring and tracking expenses compared to budget, monitoring asset utilization, and preparing, reviewing, and/or analyzing business reports.
Monitor and ensure facility-wide compliance with Logistics and company quality and safety standards, policies, procedures, and directives by developing, distributing, and/or maintaining procedures and supporting documentation.
Investigate and ensure associate, customer, and supplier concerns are resolved using own judgment or consulting others when needed.
Serve as a community liaison by participating in local and community organizations and charitable activities, championing company-sponsored programs and events to associates, customers, and the local community.
Supervise and manage associates and leaders in area of responsibility by giving direction, communicating goals, monitoring performance and providing feedback, identifying training and development needs and providing opportunities for learning and growth, teaching and supporting Logistics and company policies and procedures, and participating in the hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, and evaluation of associates facility-wide.
