The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for supporting the General Manager in building a great workplace by promoting an engaged workforce, career development, and learning. The role requires a passion for supporting the team, inspiring and mentoring team members, and developing bench strength for all positions. The AGM will partner with the General Manager to develop training plans, recognize team members, and hold direct reports accountable to policies and procedures. Sourcing high-potential candidates, ensuring compliance training is completed, and meeting performance goals are key aspects of the role. The AGM will also drive associate engagement through various methods and participate in meetings to assess team morale. Operationally, the AGM must strengthen industry expertise, deliver on plans, and prioritize the needs of internal and external customers. A passion for the guest experience is essential, with a focus on positive guest service, resolving complaints, and turning dissatisfied guests into returning customers. The AGM will role-model behaviors, maintain a professional restaurant image, and be a visible presence. Monitoring team and operational performance, ensuring a safe environment, and enforcing sanitary practices are critical. The AGM will also ensure consistent food quality and service, complete opening/closing procedures, and manage nightly, weekly, and monthly closing tasks, including paperwork and data entry. Financially, the AGM will drive top-line sales and profitability by creating schedules that maximize sales and guest satisfaction, while achieving labor and payroll goals. Accurate weekly inventory, maintaining acceptable food cost percentages, and ensuring adherence to recipe and portioning standards are required. The AGM will also complete personnel/payroll administrative duties accurately and on time, and adhere to security and loss prevention procedures. Communicating daily sales and productivity goals and reviewing financial information with the General Manager are essential. Innovation involves identifying and solving opportunities, understanding all hardware and software systems, and demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness in fast-moving circumstances. The AGM must be innovative and collaborative in driving departmental success. Productivity requires maximizing resources, exhibiting efficiency, delegating, and empowering others. The role demands self-driven individuals who work independently, do the right thing, and ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and laws. The ability to sustain performance under stress, such as tight deadlines, is also necessary. Effective communication involves developing multi-mode communications, providing accessibility for open communication, and being open to feedback. The AGM needs sufficient self-confidence, poise, charisma, and interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team and engage in professional discussions.
