About The Position

Assistant General Managers support the overall success of a Salt & Straw shop by leading people, operational execution, and guest experience in a fast-paced retail and food service environment. They partner closely with the General Manager on daily operations, team development, operational excellence, shop culture, and creating a welcoming neighborhood destination.

The role includes leading shifts, coordinating schedules and task assignments, coaching team members, supporting hiring and training, maintaining product quality and food safety, and contributing to shop financial and operational performance. Assistant General Managers also provide hospitality, address guest concerns, step into team roles as needed, and participate in community events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of food service, fast-casual dining, or hospitality experience.
• At least 18 months of progressive leadership experience.
• Experience leading teams of 10 or more Team Members in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to coach, develop, and support people with clarity and care.
• At least 18 years old.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the General Manager to achieve operational, cultural, and financial goals.
• Lead shifts to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
• Plan and execute daily shift schedules, task assignments, and team safety.
• Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to Team Members, Shift Coordinators, and Scoopers.
• Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of a high-performing team.
• Manage cash transactions and inventory, and ensure product quality and food safety.
• Assist with payroll, supplies, shop communications, and daily documentation.
• Monitor labor and sales performance and support monthly P&L insights.
• Partner on maintenance needs and vendor communications.
• Deliver memorable hospitality, share flavor stories, and resolve guest concerns.
• Step into team roles as needed and participate in community events.
