About The Position

The Options Program Assistant provides support to two district programs: the Gateway Program (a flexible pathway to a high school diploma through the HiSET) and the district's Online Learning Program. This position proctors assessments for both programs, manages Gateway Program enrollment, and manages enrollment and testing for the Online Learning Program. The specialist works closely with the Gateway Program Coordinator, teachers, and school counselors to ensure students are properly enrolled, tested with integrity, and supported in staying engaged with their program.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in human services, psychology or education preferred
  • At least two years' related experience and/or training, preferably in an educational work setting
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an authorized proctor for official HiSET testing sessions and HiSET practice assessments, following state and HiSET test-security and administration procedures
  • Verify student identity (valid photo ID) and eligibility before each testing session, in accordance with HiSET and district requirements
  • Proctor required assessments and course exams for Online Learning Program students in accordance with the online course providers testing protocols
  • Build and maintain testing calendars for both programs, schedule sessions in coordination with Gateway teachers so students test once they demonstrate readiness
  • Maintain the security, accuracy, and confidentiality of all testing materials, accommodations documentation, and test results, while maintain testing session logs
  • Verify eligibility for the program in partnership with the coordinator and counselors
  • Maintain accurate, current enrollment records and student files in the student information system, consistent with FERPA and district recordkeeping requirements
  • Track weekly attendance and engagement hours against each students attendance and engagement agreement
  • Flag students who miss one week of schedule sessions for a check-in, and students who reach three to four weeks of non-attendance for the formal reengagement review
  • Serve as a point of contact for Gateway students regarding scheduling, absences, and program expectations
  • Maintain accurate online learning enrollment records, course rosters, and progress testing checkpoints
  • Coordinate and proctor required course assessments and exams for online learning students, and track completion of required testing
  • Serve as a point of contact for online learning students and families regarding enrollment status, testing schedules, and basic platform access issues, escalating technical issues as needed
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and testing data in accordance with FERPA and district policy
  • Assist students with test registration and scheduling logistics
  • Other duties as assigned
