About The Position

J.W. Jung Seed Company is a family-owned and operated mail-order and retail company that ships seeds, plants, and gardening accessories to all 50 states. The company owns six garden centers in Wisconsin and has its corporate headquarters in Randolph, Wisconsin. The Assistant Garden Center Manager assists the Garden Center Manager with planning, ordering, and displaying plants and other products; training new employees; maintaining product quality; and ensuring the garden center is clean, safe, organized, and visually appealing indoors and outdoors. The role also provides customer service throughout the buying experience, helps resolve customer service issues, and assists with unloading merchandise from trucks.

Requirements

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Experience with POS systems, inventory control, purchasing, and database management.
Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends.
Team player with a positive, hands-on attitude.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, soils, insecticides, and disease-related topics.
Previous supervising or management experience.

Responsibilities

Assist the Garden Center Manager in planning, ordering, and displaying plants and other products.
Assist with training new employees.
Maintain product quality through watering, trimming, and fertilizing.
Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and visually appealing environment, both indoors and outdoors.
Provide excellent customer service throughout the buying experience.
Assist with customer service issues when necessary.
Assist with unloading merchandise from trucks.
