About The Position

The Pittsburg Community Middle School Assistant Football Coach will assist the head coach in organizing, coordinating, and promoting a comprehensive athletic program for football. This role is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community, provide effective leadership, ensure a positive learning environment, and stress the importance of academic achievement. The assistant coach must demonstrate high ethics, professionalism, and strong human relations, serving as a positive role model for all students.

Requirements

  • USD 250 Faculty or KSHSAA Certification
  • Current Kansas State Teaching Certificate on file in Central Office or KSHSAA Certification on file with Athletic Director.
  • Health and inoculation certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
  • Desire to continue career improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with the rules and regulations of the USD 250 School District and the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
  • Attend all practices and games throughout the designated sports season unless otherwise cleared with the head coach and the Activities Director.
  • Implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning in the assigned sport at the direction of the head coach.
  • Aid the head coach in providing an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records; participate in the awards program(s) according to school procedure.
  • Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program; provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.
  • Aid the head coach in issuing, collection, inventory, and storing equipment consistent with department guidelines.
  • Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or parents immediately; implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations; ensure the availability of a properly supplied first aid kit and emergency care cards at all times.
  • Attend a parent’s meeting within the first week after practice has started.
  • Attend and participate in one week of sports camp during the summer.
  • Help coordinate and attend the end-of-season party, which is put on by the booster club.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the head coach.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
