About The Position

The Lansing School District is seeking dedicated athletic coaches to support their team(s) success, including in the classroom. The coach will be responsible for recruiting a full team, coaching their team to a competitive record, and ensuring their team is academically successful for the whole season. They will also be encouraged to provide offseason training opportunities and expected to lead in-season tutoring, in accordance with MHSAA policies.

Requirements

• Previous successful coaching experience
• Knowledge of high-quality coaching tactics and practice drills
• Knowledge of MHSAA & LSD rules and policies
• CPR Certification & first aid training
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values

Nice To Haves

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate
• Successful NCAA athletic career

Responsibilities

• Lead and support your team(s) throughout the entire season
• Recruit a full team of players by the first day of the season, including running competitive tryouts if necessary
• Coach your team(s) to a winning record, with the goal of reaching and excelling in postseason play
• Ensure all your players are academically eligible and successful throughout the entire season
• Organize and communicate consistent practice and competitive game schedules in collaboration with the Athletic Director
• Maintain and distribute team equipment and jerseys at the beginning and end of the season
• Organize and operate offseason conditioning, training, and clinics for both team members and community members
• Abide by all MHSAA policies and regulations
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission

• Stipend depends on co-curricular amount associated with the sport per the LSEA contract
