About The Position

Garden Gate Health Care Facility is hiring an Assistant Food Service Director to help oversee daily dietary operations and support high-quality meal service, food safety, and resident satisfaction. The role assists with meal service, food production, staff supervision, and the operation of the Dietary Department. The Assistant Food Service Director also supports scheduling, training, inventory management, cost control, departmental documentation, inspections, and quality improvement. The position collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a dietary position.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of food service operations and food safety practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to excellent customer service and resident-centered care.

Nice To Haves

• Culinary school graduate preferred.
• Six months of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily Dietary Department operations, including meal service, food production, and staff supervision.
• Support scheduling, training, and mentoring of dietary team members.
• Help ensure compliance with food safety regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.
• Monitor food quality, resident satisfaction, and departmental performance.
• Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet resident dietary needs and preferences.
• Support departmental documentation, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
