Assistant Fit Technician
About The Position
Windsor’s Corporate Office is seeking an Assistant Fit Technician to support its buying team. The role helps ensure ordered SKUs fit customers by evaluating garments and communicating fit and quality modifications to vendors and the buying team. The technician works under the supervision of an associate fit technician and/or the Senior Fit Technician, handles a high volume of SKUs, and supports fit standards for junior and plus sizing across multiple departments. The position is based at Windsor’s corporate office in Santa Fe Springs, California. Work is performed in an office environment and involves operating standard office equipment and keyboards. The position may require overtime based on business needs and workload.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience with fit, technical design, and/or product development.
- Proficiency with design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD tools.
- Experience building tech packs.
- Knowledge of garment construction.
- Ability to review and approve grade sheet submissions, including understanding general math and fractions.
- Strong understanding of textiles and fabric properties.
- Understanding of fashion trends and ability to fit garments according to style and trends.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a design and buying team.
- Careful attention to design details, including stitching, fabric choice, and fit.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Organization skills, including keeping track of designs, fabric samples, and production timelines.
- Awareness of fashion trends, market needs, and consumer preferences.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-solving ability.
Nice To Haves
- Experience creating and/or modifying patterns in a professional or personal setting.
- Ability to provide garment measurements.
- Ability to identify potential production, quality, design, and/or costing issues.
Responsibilities
- Fit each SKU ordered by the Buying Department under the supervision of an associate fit technician and/or the Senior Fit Technician.
- Process a high volume of SKUs daily.
- Communicate and suggest fit corrections to buyers in accordance with their design and style preferences.
- Write detailed fit and quality improvement instructions by email, including photos with descriptions of needed adjustments and drawings on photos.
- Maintain consistent fit in accordance with Windsor standards for junior and plus sizing.
- Manage fit sample comments and approvals for multiple departments.
- Keep samples organized throughout the day.
