About The Position

The Assistant Finance Manager works in collaboration with the Finance Manager and the Finance team to provide quality services for all financial management and accounting functions. The Assistant Finance Manager assists with planning, organizing and directing the administrative activities of the Finance function and associated services. The Assistant Finance Manager coordinates and maintains the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers and the inventory databases. The Assistant Finance Manager assists in the preparation of annual budgets; financial analysis, timely and accurate financial statements and other related accounting functions. The Assistant Finance Manager reports to the Finance Manager and will work closely with other members of the Finance team as well as managers within the organization, residents and family members. The incumbent will provide services to all Actionmarguerite sites and applicable service contracts.

Requirements

• Completion of a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) or a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a specialization in accounting and/or enrollment into the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) and/or an equivalent combination of formal education and related experience.
• Minimum three years public sector accounting experience, preferably in a health environment.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience in preparation of financial statements and analysis.
• High comfort level with technology and solid working knowledge of Excel, Dynamics Great Plains and Report Designer software.
• Ability to communicate, verbal and written in both official languages (French and English) is required.
• Ability to supervise and communicate directions effectively to staff.
• Demonstrated interpersonal relationship and communication skills with residents, families and co-workers.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize, investigate and analyze problems.
• Must have initiative and judgment to organize, prioritize workload, and maintain flow of work.
• Demonstrates responsibility for and accurately handles the details associated with one's work; is conscientious about accuracy.
• Ability to adapt readily to a changing environment and respond with initiative.
• Must be in good physical and mental health.
• Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance.
• Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
• Knowledge and understanding of the WRHA funding and reporting policies.
• Knowledge and understanding of evolving accounting standards (government not-for-profit and not-for-profit).
• Knowledge of Actionmarguerite’s Vision, Mission and Values and Resident Bill of Right, policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and safe work practices.
• Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. program.
